Our building renovations are under way!

11 Aug

The builders started the renovations in June and we have been working ever since in a virtual building site, even at time having to wear hard hats! There has been a lot of noise, banging, hammering, drilling, dust – and power failures! Anyway, it will be well worth it and we are looking forward to […]

There are so many encouraging and exciting stories that we probably need a book to record them all, but here are 3 gems we would like to share. ADAM Adam came to Chrysalis on 25 May. He had run away from Lower Crossroads, Khayelitsha, when the xenophobic attacks started in Cape Town. His story started when […]

Visiting Soetwater Refugee Camp

06 Jun

Today, we visited and took some medical supplies to the Soetwater refugee camp, which is situated in the middle of nowhere halfway to Cape Point. It was terrible. Very cold down at the sea, (it is winter here and freezing in the Cape), and we sensed a tense, volatile atmosphere. It felt like a time […]

Westlake goes upmarket!

22 Apr

On Saturday, we had a table at Christ Church Constantia’s craft fair. We sold lots of our stunning newly designed bags and tablemats, which we have recently been busy manufacturing. We also sold a large number of our ‘button necklaces’, which our beaders have been producing with beads and re-cycled buttons donated to us. The […]

Johnny is back on line!

09 Apr

Jonathan McLean, 37, comes to our community office every day from 9am to 3pm, to do what he calls office work. He loves his computer and does school work on it, and he also helps to clean up and do odd jobs. The office was broken into on 23 March, and his computer tower was stolen. […]
