Westlake United Church Trust (WUCT) is partnering with The Masque Theatre in Muizenburg to raise funds that will provide Health, Advice and Education services for the ten thousand least affluent residents of Tokai, living behind the business park in Westlake Village.
The gala performance of “The Wisdom of Eve” is being held on the evening of Tuesday, 15th October. Starring the well-known local stage and screen actress, Julie Summers, and directed by the well-loved Celia Musikanth, the play tells the inside story of life in the theatre. The original book, “All About Eve” was adapted into an Oscar Award-winning film in 1951 which starred Bette Davis and provided Marilyn Monroe with one of her earliest screen roles.
“The Wisdom of Eve” has an important link to the Masque Theatre’s history: in 1997 a disastrous fire destroyed the original theatre, but – in the finest tradition – the show had to go on and a little church hall with a tiny stage became host to the performance with much acclaim!
Tickets are R 100, which includes a glass of wine with light snacks, and will be available at the door on the 15th October from 7pm onwards, with the performance starting at 8pm. To avoid disappointment, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
