Mandela Day at Emmanuel Educare

18 Jul

Great excitement today at Emmanuel Educare, today being the 94th birthday of former President Nelson Mandela.

Naval personnel from Silvermine volunteered some of their time to paint our pipeline in the new Grade R playground.  Personnel from the Army were also in attendance and a new urn was donated to the Advice Office.  The Army and Navy also supplied packages of sweets for the children.

All the children at the pre-school put on a performance singing various nursery rhymes and songs, as well as acting out some of the rhymes.  As a finale, the teachers did a spiritual dance.  The National Anthem was sung, as well as Happy Birthday for Madiba.

Daphne Cupido and ladies from Pick n Pay, Steenberg, also attended and provided packages of eats for the children.  Lots to go home with today, and truly a day to remember.

Many thanks to all those who participated and contributed, and also to Flowers for Africa for their contribution of flowers.  It was a great opportunity to share and showcase our pre-school, and the interest shown in us was truly appreciated.
