Moving the marvellous Edutainer
The Edutainer has seen us through a good few years. It is two containers combined into one classroom and was provided to us through the Bright Kids Foundation. With our brand new classrooms, however, it is now being used as a store room. It was taking up space in the playground, however, and so has now been moved to the parking area behind the pre-school. The moving involved two vehicles – a mobile crane and a truck to transport the container on.
Quite a feat to accurately move such a heavy object!
WUCT gratefully acknowledges the assistance of Reddam House School in funding the Emmanuel Educare playground upgrade (which includes the moving of the Edutainer).
- First the fence had to come down
- Hooking up the edutainer
- Almost in position on the truck
- The truck backed into the yard
- The spectators were enthralled
- Moving the edutainer into its new position
- A tight squeeze
- Situations vacant!

The new Emmanuel Educare is launched
Thursday 10 March, Westlake Community Hall.
The new Emmanuel Educare Centre was launched with an official celebration in the Community Hall. Guest Speaker was the MEC for Education, Mr Donald Grant.
Approximately 320 people attended this event which included an interpretation of Snow White by some of the Grade R children, a short ballet performance by past-pupil Stacey-Lee Heynes (who now attends Reddam School), and some superb singing by local resident Glenville September.
In his speech Mr Grant praised the provision of educational facilities by the Private Sector, and also mentioned the importance of playgrounds in the child’s development. James McGregor, on behalf of the Trust, thanked all donors who had contributed to the new building, particularly the National Lottery, Steenberg Golf Club, the Nussbaum Foundation, the MacKay Family Foundation and many others.
After the formalities were over, Bishop Eric Pike and Pastor Ernest Fish conducted a blessing ceremony in the new building and guests then had time for socialising and refreshments.
