On Friday 5 September ’08, Beatrice, one of our home based carers, as well as facilitator of the chronic disease support groups, organised a Spring Day Celebration at the Assemblies of God Church in Westlake Village, for the members of the two groups which consists mainly of elderly people. Our home based carers assisted her and the folk of Westlake enjoyed a morning of fun – there was a fashion show and children from the Emmanuel Educare Centre, as well as Little Squirrels Daycare Centre entertained the audience with songs and dances. Morgan Brown of Little Squirrels Daycare Centre was voted as Miss Spring Queen by the judges, and Stacey-Lee Heynes and Thandazwa Xakayi of Emmanuel Educare, her 2 Spring Princesses. Prizes, such as toys and lollipops, were handed out to the children and one of the members of the chronic disease group was voted as Mrs Spring Queen! Our community healthcare worker, Veronica, was voted as one of her Princesses. Congratulations, Vero! We are proud of you!!! Here are some photos of the happy occasion. Well done, also, to all the home based carers on organising such a fantastic event! We now look forward to summer – after all the rain in Cape Town!
